Please join Atta Arghandiwal for An Untold Afghan Story Cocktail Reception Adventure at Khyber Pass Restaurant in Hillcrest. Enjoy a glass of wine and light appetizers as Atta shares his candid and moving story as an Afghan refugee who fled after the Soviet invasion of 1980, and also the devastation he witnessed when he returned to him homeland after 9/11.
Your Adventure includes wine, light appetizers, tax, tip, book discussion, Q&A, author signing, and an opportunity to meet the author up close and personal in an intimate and authentic setting. Khyber Pass is owned by the Nasery family, who also fled Afghanistan after the Soviet invasion of 1980.
About the Author and Book
Atta Arghandiwal left Afghanistan after the 1980 Russian invasion and became a refugee in Germany. He later immigrated to the United States, where he built a successful banking career. With deep passion and pride in his heritage, Arghandiwal has written the true Afghan story in order to increase awareness about his country’s political upheaval and the innocent people who have been caught in chaos.
In Lost Decency: The Untold Afghan Story, Arghandiwal shares his and the Afghan people’s turbulent journey to escape their war-torn country. Every refugee’s story deserves to be heard, but Atta’s thrilling and inspiring history uncovers the truth about how his beloved and once peaceful nation turned into one of the deadliest and most dangerous in the world.
The author will donate a percentage of all book sales to his Women's Sports in Afghanistan Foundation. Because his daughter plays on the Afghan National Soccer Team, he understands the important role sports can play in an Afghan girl's life.
