About the Event
Have you always wanted to be in a book club? Or perhaps you already are, but can’t get enough? Or maybe you want to meet local authors to see if they might be a good fit to visit your personal book club or speak at an event?
Whatever the reason, if you love books, our new Breakfast Book Club is for you, where you can enjoy breakfast, a great book discussion, discover new authors, meet interesting people, and learn about fascinating topics.
Our events will always feature the author, of course, and they will be professionally facilitated, this month by renowned author, TV and radio personality Kathi Diamant.
We want to introduce you to interesting local authors who you may not have the opportunity to otherwise meet, but we think you should. Yes, of course, it’s more fun if you read the book, but if you want to join us to check it out before you read the book, feel free.
About the Book and Author
Helen Pruden Kaufmann grew up privileged in a small town in North Carolina that cherished its customs and history as symbolized by the Confederate Monument in the center of town.
In her memoir, White Gloves and Collars, Helen shares her story as it unfolds against the backdrop of the civil rights movement.
As she copes with the loss of both her parents at an early age, she tries hard to make sense of the changes taking place around her, both in her personal life and in society.
White Gloves and Collards is not your typical civil rights era morality tale, but rather a story of everyday people dealing with change the best they know how.
Please note that no physical tickets will be issued. No refunds after March 20, 2015. Books available for order here.
