in partnership with Ignite Bistro & Wine Spot
About the Event
Adventures by the Book™ is excited to announce the launch of our new North County exclusive Adventures by the Book Club series, where readers can gather and connect intimately with featured authors. Join us at Ignite Bistro & Wine Spot with our first guest author, Lisa Napoli.
How it works:
Readers are invited to meet the Book Club at Ignite Bistro at 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 24th; there will be fee of $10 to join the club for the evening (this may be paid in advance via PayPal below or at the door). Upon entry into Ignite, readers will enjoy Happy Hour pricing on food and drink** and enjoy the company of author Lisa Napoli as she informally discusses her book, Ray & Joan.
The format of the evening will encourage questions and discussion with our wonderful author about her fascinating book (due to the short-notice of the launch of this Book Club, guests will not be expected to have read the book prior to our first meeting) and the research she did to complete it. Don't miss the chance to take part in this awesome new Book Club series, designed to give readers a fun evening out while merging two of our favorite past times: wine & books!
**Guests are expected to order food or beverage during the event; your admission price does not apply to your restaurant order.
About the Author and Book
Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, Lisa Napoli has lived for the last dozen years in southern California, where she was inspired to write this book by a public artwork with a mysterious provenance. In her three decades as a journalist, she’s worked for The New York Times, MSNBC, the public radio show Marketplace, and a variety of other outlets. She’s covered everything from presidential campaigns, to hacker conventions and a hostage standoff, to the dawn of the World Wide Web. Her first book, Radio Shangri-La, is about the impact of media culture on the mysterious Kingdom of Bhutan, where she was invited to help start a radio station at the dawn of democratic rule.
Ray & Joan is a quintessentially American tale of corporate intrigue and private passion: a struggling Mad Men–era salesman with a vision for a fast-food franchise that would become one of the world’s most enduring brands, and a beautiful woman willing to risk her marriage and her reputation to promote controversial causes that touched her deeply.
Please note that no physical tickets will be issued. Due to the special nature of this event, no refunds are available after June 17, 2017, or for no-shows.
Your $10 admission fee covers your entrance to the event and time with the author only. Food & Beverage purchase at Ignite Bistro is expected at the special Happy Hour prices available.
Books will be available at the event for purchase and signing, or pre-order a signed copy of Ray & Joan to be delivered at the event:
