AuthorPreneurs is pleased to team up with award-winning author and Emmy-award winning television interviewer Kathi Diamant and Emmy-award winning KPBS producer and filmmaker Andy Trimlett to offer an intensive Creating Your Professional Video workshop designed specifically for authors.

One of the most effective ways to reach the largest potential audience is an online video interview. People may not judge a book by its cover, but they certainly will judge an author by their presence. We will prepare you to create a professional video presence online, and to develop skills to handle a formal live television or radio interview. Workshop includes:.

  • an intensive writing session with Kathi to prepare to talk about your book on camera
  • a professional one-on-one coaching session with Kathi in which you will rehearse and be coached on interview and presentation skills
  • a session with both Kathi and Andy in which each participant will be recorded for a 5-minute on-camera single shot interview
  • a high definition video of your interview professionally filmed by Andy for every participant, which can be posted on your website or used for promotional purposes
  • the opportunity to slate the interview with your name and book title which you can later upload as a Vimeo video, with an embedded code, to You Tube, Facebook, or a website, or used later as part of a book trailer
  • a gourmet boxed lunch (for break between noon and 1:00pm)
  • small class size of no more than 15 participants

What is the AuthorPreneurs?

As an author events coordinator, Susan McBeth is frequently asked advice by writers who are overwhelmed with the marketing process. Who do I hire for my author photo; do I need a book trailer; what do I invest for a professional website; where do I start with social media; how do I set up interviews; how do I develop my presentation skills; what good is a press release and how do I write one; how do I best approach bookstores and libraries for events; what other event options are available, etc.

AuthorPreneurs will answer those questions and much more, as it takes you methodically through the process of marketing your book in Anne Lamott fashion, Bird by Bird.

Our goal is to create an all-inclusive author community in SoCal that provides opportunities to network, learn, engage, support, and contribute, including our monthly dinner series for authors and our innovative AuthorPreneurs workshops. AuthorPreneurs is where both seasoned authors and emerging writers can grow. Don’t miss out on this groundbreaking new program that helps authors become better entrepreneurs!
