Have you ever read a book and wished you could ask the author to clarify a few things? It’s possible! Ask book club manager Toy, who sent this lovely note as a follow-up to her group’s visit with NYT bestselling author Sadeqa Johnson:
“Thank you so much, Sadeqa, for taking time out of your busy schedule to meet with The Gathering of Women Book Club. We enjoyed both you and your book. You were terrific in explaining some of the more disturbing aspects of “Yellow Wife” and in doing so made these complex characters easier to understand. It was a great read and we eagerly await your next novel. Thank you (NovelNetwork)for your reminders and making sure we had all the information we needed to make Sadeqa’s visit a success. Having the author’s thoughts “live” made all the difference.”
A Gathering of Women Book Club is self-described as, “A 25 year old book club of African-American women with varied backgrounds and ages. We have conducted our meetings by Zoom since the COVID restrictions which has worked out beautifully. We are now able to have out of town members. We have 13 members who meet each month except December. Located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, USA, we are currently reading Interior Chinatown by Charles Yu and our next book is Summer on the Bluff by Sunny Hostin. We read all genres but most have been by female, African American authors. We try to keep ourselves open to different ideas.”
Invite Sadeqa Johnson or any of our member authors to visit with your book club and ask those burning questions to help your group process and enhance your reading experience.
