AuthorPreneurs: Developing a Media Pitch featuring Jennifer Coburn

June 30, 2021 @ 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

$5.00 – $17.99

About the Event

You sent a press release to your favorite newspapers, magazines, radio, and TV outlets announcing the publication of your new book and…nothing. Not a single request for interview or story. Join us for a Freside chat with author and publicist Jennifer Coburn about how to craft a winning media pitch for your book. The world really does need to know about your work; you just need to figure out how to pitch the story to assignment editors. (Hint: It’s not that you have a new book.) After 20 years working with nonprofits in media relations, Jennifer began working with authors five years ago to help them earn media coverage that moves the needle on sales.

Whether you are a seasoned professional, a newly published author, or an emerging voice, you won’t want to miss this interactive AuthorPreneurs® discussion on Fireside. For over ten years, Adventures by the Book® has been offering our signature one-of-a-kind, multi-sensorial events and travels with authors. That’s because we are passionate about the written word! Our AuthorPreneurs® series offers writers the opportunity to explore the business side of the craft.

Your Adventure includes a live Fireside discussion with Jennifer, Q&A, and the unique opportunity to converse live* with Crystal.

*Admission to this event is unique, as Fireside is open by invite only. Simply register below and we will send you a private VIP link to attend the virtual event. An iPhone or iPad is required to chat live with Jennifer on the virtual stage; however, event is accessible via live broadcast on all devices. Event access is provided via instructions emailed to you three days prior to the event.

About the Author and Book

Jennifer Coburn is the author of Cradles of the Reich (to be published September 2022), a historical novel about three very different women living at a Nazi Lebensborn breeding home at the start of World War ll.  She has also published a mother-daughter travel memoir, We’ll Always Have Paris, and six contemporary women’s novels. Additionally, Jennifer has contributed to five literary anthologies, including A Paris All Your Own.

Jennifer lives in San Diego and, when not going down historical research rabbit holes, she volunteers with So Say We All, a live storytelling organization, where she is a performer, producer, and performance coach. She is also an active volunteer with Reality Changers, a nonprofit that supports low-income high school students in becoming the first in their families to attend college. She specializes in college essay development, interview prep, and all-around tiger mothering.

In addition to writing, Jennifer is the founder and CEO of Jen Coburn Communications, specializing in media relations, writing services, and book promotion.

About Fireside

We are thrilled to announce that Adventures by the Book has been invited to host a literary series on Fireside which will include book discussions, author talks, book clubs, special presentations, and much more.

During the course of WWII, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt instituted a series of “fireside chats” on the radio, as a way to regularly communicate self-assurance and calm during times of despair and uncertainty in our country. While once a thing of the past, thanks to the brilliant collaboration of billionaire entrepreneur and Shark Tank TV star, Mark Cuban, and Falon Fatemi, former CEO and Founder of Node.ai, Fireside chats are back, bigger and better than ever, and in a technological format that allows YOU to actively participate!

Fireside is the exclusive, invite-only new podcast platform for the next generation – a socially responsible space for us to come together in real-time to collaborate and create meaningful conversations. Together, we will engage in discussion, debate, and discourse in a public forum and make it a thing of celebration and beauty. We are ready to share our microphone with you and hope you’ll join us as we collaborate in the world’s most dynamic auditorium.
