About the Event

As the 245th anniversary of our country’s Day of Independence approaches, stories abound of our Founding Fathers. Yet, how many of us give pause to celebrate and reflect on our Founding Mothers and, as New York Times bestselling authors Stephanie Dray and Laura Kamoie coined them, the other “Petticoat Patriots?”  Well thank goodness we have two experts to help us “Remember the Ladies” just in time for the Fourth of July weekend.

Join us as we continue our exciting new Adventures by the Book series on Fireside with Stephanie and Laura, as they chat with you about their favorite founding mothers, what they sacrificed for the nation or how they contributed, with an eye towards how historical fiction in particular allows these important stories to be told and remembered. The authors will even share some of their recommended patriotic reads. Join us for our exclusive Fireside chat where you can chat live on a virtual stage with Stephanie and Laura to discuss their books, ask questions, and celebrate our Founding Mothers.

*Admission to this event is unique, as Fireside is open by invite only. Simply purchase a book below (or buy both for a special discount) and we will send you a private VIP link to attend the virtual event. Chat live with Stephanie and Laura in the virtual audience with an iPhone or iPad or listen via live broadcast on all other devices. Event access is provided via instructions emailed to you the week of the event.

Your Adventure includes a copy of The Women of Chateau Lafayette and/or My Dear Hamilton (with signed bookplates), tax, shipping within the U.S. and Canada, a live Fireside chat with Stephanie and Laura.

About the Authors and Books

Stephanie Dray is is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal & USA Today bestselling author of historical women’s fiction, including blockbusters America’s First Daughter and My Dear Hamilton. Her award-winning work has been translated into eight languages and tops lists for the most anticipated reads of the year. She lives in Maryland with her husband, cats, and history books.

Her new historical novel, The Women of Chateau Lafayette is an epic saga based on the true story of an extraordinary castle in the heart of France and the remarkable women bound by its legacy. Most castles are protected by men. This one by women.

A founding mother…
1774. Gently-bred noblewoman Adrienne Lafayette becomes her husband, the Marquis de Lafayette’s political partner in the fight for American independence. But when their idealism sparks revolution in France and the guillotine threatens everything she holds dear, Adrienne must renounce the complicated man she loves, or risk her life for a legacy that will inspire generations to come.

A daring visionary…
1914. Glittering New York socialite Beatrice Chanler is a force of nature, daunted by nothing–not her humble beginnings, her crumbling marriage, or the outbreak of war. But after witnessing the devastation in France firsthand, Beatrice takes on the challenge of a lifetime: convincing America to fight for what’s right.

A reluctant resistor…
1940. French school-teacher and aspiring artist Marthe Simone has an orphan’s self-reliance and wants nothing to do with war. But as the realities of Nazi occupation transform her life in the isolated castle where she came of age, she makes a discovery that calls into question who she is, and more importantly, who she is willing to become.

Laura Kamoie, Wall Street Journal, New York Times and USA Today bestseller, has always been fascinated by the people, stories, and physical presence of the past, which led her to a lifetime of historical and archaeological study and training. She holds a doctoral degree in early American history from The College of William and Mary, published two non-fiction books on early America, and most recently held the position of Associate Professor of History at the U.S. Naval Academy before transitioning to a full-time writing career. Writing historical fiction allows her the exciting opportunity to combine her love of history with her passion for storytelling. Laura lives among the colonial charm of Annapolis, Maryland with her husband, two daughters, and monster German shepherd, Schuyler.

Her most recent historical novel, My Dear Hamilton, is the epic story of Eliza Schuyler Hamilton–a revolutionary woman who, like her new nation, struggled to define herself in the wake of war, betrayal, and tragedy. Haunting, moving, and beautifully written, Laura (together with Stephanie Dray) used thousands of letters and original sources to tell Eliza’s story as it’s never been told before–not just as the wronged wife at the center of a political sex scandal–but also as a founding mother who shaped an American legacy in her own right.

A general’s daughter…

Coming of age on the perilous frontier of revolutionary New York, Elizabeth Schuyler champions the fight for independence. And when she meets Alexander Hamilton, Washington’s penniless but passionate aide-de-camp, she’s captivated by the young officer’s charisma and brilliance. They fall in love, despite Hamilton’s bastard birth and the uncertainties of war.

A Founding Father’s wife…

But the union they create–in their marriage and the new nation–is far from perfect. From glittering inaugural balls to bloody street riots, the Hamiltons are at the center of it all–including the political treachery of America’s first sex scandal, which forces Eliza to struggle through heartbreak and betrayal to find forgiveness.

The last surviving light of the Revolution…

When a duel destroys Eliza’s hard-won peace, the grieving widow fights her husband’s enemies to preserve Alexander’s legacy. But long-buried secrets threaten everything Eliza believes about her marriage and her own legacy. Questioning her tireless devotion to the man and country that have broken her heart, she’s left with one last battle–to understand the flawed man she married and imperfect nation he could never have created without her…

About Fireside Chat

During the course of WWII, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt instituted a series of “fireside chats” on the radio, as a way to regularly communicate self-assurance and calm during times of despair and uncertainty in our country. While once a thing of the past, thanks to the brilliant collaboration of billionaire entrepreneur and Shark Tank TV star, Mark Cuban, and Falon Fatemi, former CEO and Founder of Node.ai, Fireside Chats are back, bigger and better than ever, and in a technological format that allows YOU to actively participate!

We are thrilled to announce that Adventures by the Book has been invited to host a literary series on Fireside Chat which will include book discussions, author talks, book clubs, special presentations, and much more.

Fireside Chat is the exclusive, invite-only new podcast platform for the next generation – a socially responsible space for us to come together in real-time to collaborate and create meaningful conversations. Together, we will engage in discussion, debate, and discourse in a public forum and make it a thing of celebration and beauty. We are ready to share our microphone with you and hope you’ll join us as we collaborate in the world’s most dynamic auditorium.
