About the Author and Book

Gus Constantellis (he/him) is a gay, first generation Greek American stand up comedian and writer raised in Brooklyn, whose sharp, fast paced comedy draws from his loud immigrant family, Greek heritage, and raunchy yet relatable dating stories. He has been touring internationally for the past three years and regularly performs at top comedy clubs across the country.
Gus is also the co-host of a popular podcast with Christina Mavronos, has recorded a Comedy Central featuring set, and has written for children’s series on Disney Channel, Nickelodeon, and Netflix, including The Lion Guard, Rainbow Rangers, Abby Hatcher, and Gabby’s Dollhouse.
In 2026, Gus expands his storytelling beyond the stage with My Greek Mom’s Recipes: She Died, a cookbook inspired by the loss of his larger than life Greek mother. Part love letter and part comedy, the book features more than 75 classic Greek recipes including spanakopita, moussaka, loukoumades, and keftedakia, alongside family stories and the humor that first made his mom a viral sensation on TikTok. As Gus puts it, “My mom used to say, ‘When I die, you’re all going to starve.’ Instead, she made sure we never would.”
