Coronation Year: a Literary Tea Adventure with USA Today and international bestselling author Jennifer Robson

April 8, 2023 @ 11:30 AM - 5:00 PM

$19.99 – $69.00

GREAT NEWS! We have added a second seating for our Coronation Year Adventure. Since the first seating sold out so quickly, we now have limited spaces available at 3:00pm for the second seating, but hurry, before they are all gone!

About the Event

It’s coronation year, as King Charles III’s ceremony is set to take place on May 6, 2023, at Westminster Abbey in London, so we think it’s time for a Coronation Year Literary Tea Adventure. And we couldn’t think of a better author to celebrate with than USA Today and international bestselling author Jennifer Robson, as she returns with another enthralling and royal-adjacent historical novel, Coronation Year, which takes place as the lives of three very different residents of London’s historic Blue Lion hotel converge in a potentially explosive climax on the day of Queen Elizabeth’s Coronation…

Join Jennifer for a literary tea at the historic Coral Tree Tea House, where you can relax in a Victorian home in a beautifully landscaped public park. Over books, tea, and delectable treats like dainty sandwiches, scones, and seasonal berries, enjoy a chance to learn about  Jennifer’s new novel, Coronation Year.

Your Adventure includes the tea in Old Town’s historic Heritage County Park, tea sandwiches and desserts, hot tea, tax, gratuity, book discussion, Q&A, author signing, and an opportunity to meet the author up close and personal in an intimate setting.

Books will be available for purchase and signing during the tea, or pre-order your paperback copy of Coronation Year for delivery and signing at the event. The paperback book is available at a discounted price with purchase of event ticket.

NOTE: Seating is limited, so you will want to register soon to guarantee a seat!

About the Author and Book

Jennifer Robson is the USA Today and #1 Toronto Globe & Mail bestselling author of Somewhere in France and After the War Is Over. She holds a doctorate in British economic and social history from Saint Antony’s College, University of Oxford, where she was a Commonwealth Scholar and an SSHRC Doctoral Fellow. She lives in Toronto, Canada with her husband and young children.

In Jennifer’s new book, Coronation Year, it is Coronation Year, 1953, and a new queen is about to be crowned. The people of London are in a mood to celebrate, none more so than the residents of the Blue Lion hotel.

Edie Howard, owner and operator of the floundering Blue Lion, has found the miracle she needs: on Coronation Day, Queen Elizabeth in her gold coach will pass by the hotel’s front door, allowing Edie to charge a fortune for rooms and, barring disaster, save her beloved home from financial ruin. Edie’s luck might just be turning, all thanks to a young queen about her own age.

Stella Donati, a young Italian photographer and Holocaust survivor, has come to live at the Blue Lion while she takes up a coveted position at Picture Weekly magazine. London in celebration mode feels like a different world to her. As she learns the ins and outs of her new profession, Stella discovers a purpose and direction that honor her past and bring hope for her future.

James Geddes, a war hero and gifted artist, has struggled to make his mark in a world that disdains his Indian ancestry. At the Blue Lion, though, he is made to feel welcome and worthy. Yet even as his friendship with Edie deepens, he begins to suspect that something is badly amiss at his new home.

When anonymous threats focused on Coronation Day, the Blue Lion, and even the queen herself disrupt their mood of happy optimism, Edie and her friends must race to uncover the truth, save their home, and expose those who seek to erase the joy and promise of Coronation Year.
