Virginia Woolf made the connection between language and wine, so we wanted to take a page from her and create an entire Adventures by the Book series devoted to the pairing of wine and books. Voila! Introducing our new Reading Between the Vines series to take place at the estate producer Hook & Ladder Winery, 2134 Olivet Rd, Santa Rosa, in Sonoma County, California!
With the assistance of Melier, we invite you to indulge in a sumptuous bubble tasting and book pairing experience, presented under California’s brilliant trademark sunshine. Enjoy a light brunch of pastries and Hook & Ladder bubbles, meet meet award-winning and bestselling author Karen E. Osborne and learn about her moving new novel, True Grace.
Your Adventure includes a glass of Hook & Ladder bubbles specifically selected to pair with Karen’s book, pastries, author presentation, Q&A, book signing, and the opportunity to meet the author in a relaxed and intimate setting at the beautiful Hook & Ladder Winery property. About the Author
Karen E. Osborne always knew she possessed a talent and immense passion for writing. Her novels followed a forty-year career, first as an academic administrator and then co-owner of The Osborne Group, serving as a consultant, trainer, and motivational speaker. Karen then decided to refocus on her life passion for writing and telling awe-inspiring stories. She released her first novel, Getting it Right, in 2017 to notable acclaim and received attention for her compelling writing style that aims to explore questions of race, privilege, and family loyalties. Since then a murder mystery, Tangled Lies, and a family suspense drama, Reckonings, both award winning, have come out.
Karen’s newest novel, True Grace, is a historical fiction story set in 1924 during the Harlem Renaissance, chronicling the powerful journey of an immigrant, mixed-race woman from The Congo, England, and Jamaica as she fights for her family’s survival. Inspired by real people and events, Grace must navigate the misogyny and racism of the courts, banks, child welfare system, and bad actors to hold her family together.
Calling on her grit, determination, and grace, she must overcome harrowing circumstances. Readers will find themselves hooked from the first riveting chapter and cheering for Grace each step of the way.
