About the Event

We are pleased to invite you to our Murder Mystery Whodunnit Virtual Adventure with New York Times bestselling authors Megan Miranda, Jean Kwok, and Wendy Walker, together with upcoming author Michelle Cox and Pulitzer-Prize winning artist Steve Breen.  Join us on Zoom* to “meet” these creative artists and experience the murder, intrigue, and suspense this Adventure is sure to invoke.

As you relax in the comfort of your own home, allow our four authors to set the stage for their four suspenseful murder mystery novels, after which Steve Breen, with the help of an unnamed source, will offer a sketch artist demonstration, and we will see who our own “murderer” turns out to be.

About the Authors

Megan Miranda is the New York Times bestselling author of All the Missing Girls, The Perfect Stranger, and The Last House Guest, a Reese Witherspoon Book Club pick.

She has also written several books for young adults, including Come Find Me, Fragments of the Lost, and The Safest Lies. She grew up in New Jersey, graduated from MIT, and lives in North Carolina with her husband and two children.

Her new book, The Girl from Widow Hills (Simon and Schuster: June 23, 2020), is a riveting new novel of psychological suspense about a young woman plagued by night terrors after a childhood trauma who wakes one evening to find a corpse at her feet.

 

Jean Kwok is the award-winning, New York Times and international bestselling author of Searching for Sylvie Lee, Girl in Translation, and Mambo in Chinatown. Her work has been published in twenty countries and taught in universities, colleges and high schools across the world.

Jean immigrated from Hong Kong to Brooklyn when she was five and worked in a Chinatown clothing factory for much of her childhood while living in an unheated, roach-infested apartment. Michelle Cox is the author of the multiple award-winning Henrietta and Inspector Howard series as well as “Novel Notes of Local Lore,” a weekly blog dedicated to Chicago’s forgotten residents.  She suspects she may have once lived in the 1930s and, having yet to discover a handy time machine lying around, has resorted to writing about the era as a way of getting herself back there.

About the Artist

Steve Breen is a two-time winner of the Pulitzer Prize for editorial cartooning (1998, 2009) and bestselling children’s author/illustrator of Stick (2007) Violet The Pilot (2008) The Secret of Santa’s Island (2009), Pug and Doug (2013) and Unicorn Executions (2014).

He was born in Los Angeles in 1970 and raised in Orange County. In 1992, he graduated from the University of California at Riverside with a degree in political science. Steve got his start in newspapers at the Asbury Park Press in 1994. He has been the editorial cartoonist for the San Diego Union-Tribune since 2001. His work is nationally syndicated by Creators News Service and regularly appears in papers throughout the country.

Steve lives in San Diego with his wife and five children. He enjoys reading, running, playing the guitar, watching old movies on Netflix and chatting with his father on the phone.
