Virginia Woolf made the connection between language and wine, so we wanted to take a page from her and create an entire Adventures by the Book series devoted to the pairing of wine and books. Voila! Join us for our next event in the Reading Between the Vines series, which will take place once again at the estate producer Hook & Ladder Winery, 2134 Olivet Rd, Santa Rosa, in Sonoma County, California, as part of their exciting new Book & Ladder Club!
With the assistance of Melier, we invite you to indulge in a bubbles tasting and book pairing experience, presented under California’s brilliant trademark sunshine. While you sample a delectable glass of Hook & Ladder Winery bubbles and light pastries, meet author Rosa Kwon Easton and learn about her novel, White Mulberry.
Your Adventure includes a glass of Hook & Ladder bubbles specifically selected to pair with Rosa’s novel, fresh pastries, author presentation, Q&A, book signing, and the opportunity to meet the author in a relaxed and intimate setting at the beautiful Hook & Ladder Winery property. Copies of White Mulberry will be available for sale at the event for signing.
About the Author
Rosa Kwon Easton is a writer, attorney, elected trustee of the Palos Verdes Library District, and mother of two adult children. She is an Anaphora Writing Residency Fellow and has been published in CRAFT Literary, Writer’s Digest, StoryCenter.org among others. She has been published in numerous newspapers and anthologies, performed a story on stage at the Expressing Motherhood show in L.A., and spoken in front of various organizations, including Kia USA and Peninsula Friends of the Library. She believes in the power of story to educate, broaden cultural understanding, and inspire others to discover their own stories.
Her debut novel, White Mulberry, is a true-life novel of her grandmother’s life during the Japanese Occupation of Korea, which has many parallels to her family’s immigration to America.
1928, Japan-occupied Korea. Eleven-year-old Miyoung has dreams too big for her tiny farming village near Pyongyang: to become a teacher, to avoid an arranged marriage, to write her own future. When she is offered the chance to live with her older sister in Japan and continue her education, she is elated, even though it means leaving her sick mother―and her very name―behind.As war looms on a new front and Miyoung feels the constraints of her adopted home tighten, she is faced with a choice that will change her life―and the lives of those she loves―forever.

Free registration is available via Hook & Ladder Winery. Books and wine will be available for sale and signing at the event. Only books purchased at the event are eligible for signing.
