Adventures by the Book is pleased to partner with the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at San Diego State University for a Culture & Cuisine of Italy Edventure with food and travel writer, restauranteur, entrepreneur, and author Carla Gambescia.
While enjoying a delicious, authentic Italian lunch at one of San Diego’s most popular restaurants, Buca di Beppo, Carla will share her unconventional guide to Italian culture.
What food was considered scandalous if consumed by women in public during the Renaissance? Why is carpaccio called carpaccio, the Bellini, the Bellini? How di the Colosseum get its name? Discover surprising new facts about “The Boot” in this interactive cultural lunch for anyone who is fascinated by Italian culture and delizioso cuisine.

About the Book and Author
Carla Gambescia is a food and travel writer, restauranteur, entrepreneur, and co-creator of the Giro del Gelato cycling tour (winner of Outside Magazine’s Best Trip in Western Europe). She has traveled every region of “The Boot” on foot and by bicycle.

Due to the special nature of this Edventure, Osher membership is required and may be obtained at a minimal cost at time of registration; limited spaces are available for this unique experience, so early registration is recommended.
The options available below are for a copy of La Dolce Vita University, and will not register you for the event. Book will be delivered to you at the event for signing.
