Pivoting to virtual events has made this not only possible, but offers up fun opportunities for exciting partnerships, participation by more of our over 135 book club favorite authors, and space to accommodate many more readers!

Just in time to choose some great summer reads, this free event features presentations by a potpourri of book club favorite authors: Amy Mason Doan, Stephanie Dray, Alice Early, Kaira Rouda, Katherine St. John, and Preslaysa Williams, an interactive virtual game of bingo, and fun prizes, and all you have to do is show up (and why not invite your book club friends and fellow readers to join in as well) to learn about great new reads to add to your to be read list).

While this event is free, your purchase of a book(s) below (to be shipped to you within the U.S.) provides much-needed support to these authors whose book tours and events have been cancelled due to COVID-19.

Books may be ordered below for shipping within the U.S. and will include a signed bookplate. See below for registration information.

About the Authors

Amy Mason Doan is an award-winning author who grew up in California and now lives in Portland, Oregon. She’s written for The Oregonian, San Francisco Chronicle, Wired, Forbes, and other publications. Amy has an M.A. in Journalism from Stanford University and a B.A. in English from U.C. Berkeley.

Her new novel, Lady Sunshine, named one of Parade Magazine’s Best 25 Books of Summer features one iconic family, one summer of secrets, and the dazzling spirit of 1970’s California.

For Jackie Pierce, everything changed the summer of 1979, when she spent three months of infinite freedom at her bohemian uncle’s sprawling estate on the California coast. As musicians, artists, and free spirits gathered at The Sandcastle for the season in pursuit of inspiration and communal living, Jackie and her cousin Willa fell into a fast friendship, testing their limits along the rocky beach and in the wild woods… until the summer abruptly ended in tragedy, and Willa silently slipped away into the night.

Stephanie Dray is a New York Times, Wall Street Journal & USA Today bestselling author of historical women’s fiction. Her award-winning work has been translated into eight languages and tops lists for the most anticipated reads of the year. Now she lives in Maryland with her husband, cats, and history books.

Her epic new saga, The Women of Chateau Lafayette, is an intricately woven and powerfully told historical novel about duty and hope, love and courage, and the strength we take from those who came before us, that is based on the true story of an extraordinary castle in the heart of France and the remarkable women bound by its legacy. Most castles are protected by men. This one by women.

A founding mother…
1774. Gently-bred noblewoman Adrienne Lafayette becomes her husband, the Marquis de Lafayette’s political partner in the fight for American independence. But when their idealism sparks revolution in France and the guillotine threatens everything she holds dear, Adrienne must renounce the complicated man she loves, or risk her life for a legacy that will inspire generations to come.

A daring visionary…
1914. Glittering New York socialite Beatrice Chanler is a force of nature, daunted by nothing–not her humble beginnings, her crumbling marriage, or the outbreak of war. But after witnessing the devastation in France firsthand, Beatrice takes on the challenge of a lifetime: convincing America to fight for what’s right.

A reluctant resistor…
1940. French school-teacher and aspiring artist Marthe Simone has an orphan’s self-reliance and wants nothing to do with war. But as the realities of Nazi occupation transform her life in the isolated castle where she came of age, she makes a discovery that calls into question who she is, and more importantly, who she is willing to become.

Alice C. Early left a career in international business in New York City and became a year-round Vineyarder in 1999, where she got serious about writing and later joined The Indian Hill Writer’s Workshop led by novelist John Hough, Jr., where The Moon Always Rising took shape. While her debut novel was in submission, she attended the Cuttyhunk Writer’s Residency to workshop her second novel, Posthumous.

She lives in a hand-built cottage in view of the mighty Atlantic, where she writes, sings, and cooks, nurturing friends and neighbors with the bounty of the Island’s fields and waters, and subjecting them to her experiments in gluten-free baking.

Alice’s debut novel, The Moon Always Rising, sweeps readers from the Scottish highlands to the lush tropics, in this love story about the meaning of home and the power of forgiveness. An abandoned only child who is reeling from multiple tragedies flees her native Scotland for a derelict plantation house on the tiny Caribbean island of Nevis. She soon realizes she’s cohabiting with the jumbie (ghost) of Jack Griggs, her home’s former owner, and that neither can move on without the other’s help.

Kaira Rouda is an accomplished business leader, entrepreneur, national speaker and internationally bestselling and award-winning author. A former magazine editor, and society columnist, Kaira won the Stevie Award for Women in Business for creating the first female-focused residential real estate brand, Real Living, and growing the brand to more than 22 states before its sale to Berkshire Hathaway. Her first book, Real You Incorporated: 8 Essentials for Women Entrepreneurs, led to a national speaking tour where she inspired thousands. She lives in Southern California with her husband, Congressman Harley Rouda, and her four twenty-something children.

In her newest twisting novel of suspense, The Next Wife, there is no limit to the lies, suspicion, and secrets that can poison the perfect marriage. Kate Nelson had it all. A flourishing company founded with her husband, John; a happy marriage; and a daughter, Ashlyn. The picture-perfect family. Until John left for another woman. Tish is half his age. Ambitious. She’s cultivated a friendship with Ashlyn. Tish believes she’s won. She’s wrong.

Tish Nelson has it all. Youth, influence, a life of luxury, and a new husband. But the truth is, there’s a lot of baggage. Namely, his first wife—and suspicions of his infidelity. After all, that’s how she got John. Maybe it’s time for a romantic getaway, far from his vindictive ex. If Kate plans on getting John back, Tish is one step ahead of her. She thinks. But what happens next is something neither Kate nor Tish saw coming. As best-laid plans come undone, there’s no telling what a woman will do in the name of love—and revenge.

Katherine St. John is the author of The Lion’s Den, and a native of Mississippi and a graduate of the University of Southern California who spent over a decade in the film industry as an actress, screenwriter, and director before turning to penning novels.

When she’s not writing, she can be found hiking or on the beach with a good book. Katherine currently lives in Los Angeles with her husband and two daughters.

In The Siren, another sublimely escapist thriller, dangerously handsome megastar Cole Power hires his ex-wife Stella Rivers to play opposite him in his son’s film, where he sparks a firestorm on an isolated island that will unearth long-buried secrets—and unravel years of lies.

Three very different women arrive on the set, each with her own motive. With a hurricane brewing offshore, each woman finds herself trapped on the island, united against a common enemy. But as deceptions come to light, misplaced trust may prove more perilous than the storm itself.
