Breakfast Republic Book Club Adventure

August 4, 2019 @ 4:00 pm PDT

$15.00 – $30.00

About the Event

Here at Adventures by the Book, you know we like to do book events a little differently, so why not a breakfast event at dinner, for a book club gathering before you read the book, and inviting readers whether or not they are  in a book club!

In partnership with one of Southern California’s top breakfast spots, Breakfast Republic, we are excited to introduce the next event in our Breakfast Republic Book Club Adventure series, featuring critically acclaimed and bestselling authors Abbi Waxman, Kristin Rockaway, and Kathy Cooperman.

Whether or not you’ve already read The Bookish Life of Nina Hill, How to Hack a Heartbreak, The Very Principled Maggie Mayfield, or any of the authors’ previous books, you can be sure we’ll have a fun and engaging discussion with Abbi, Kristin, and Kathy, were we’ll have plenty to talk about. You can ask Abbi about what happens when an introvert’s world is turned upside down, Kristin what it’s like to work in the tech industry (both fictional and real), and Kathy what happens when good intentions lead to bad decisions. All three of these books are quirky, charming, and perfect for a fun book club chat and girls’ night out.

Enjoy a delicious breakfast-for-dinner meal and admission to this private event where you’ll have the opportunity to meet Abbi, Kristin, and Kathy in a fun and intimate setting. And we know it’s tough to choose only one book, but great news – you don’t need to, because for a limited time (online only), you can pre-order all three books for only $30!  That’s right – because we’re so excited for this fun event that we’re offering you an AMAZING price on book packages! Order one title for only $15, two for $25, or all three for $30 (that’s only $10 a book)!

Your Adventure includes breakfast, soft beverage (alcohol available for purchase), tax, gratuity, author presentations, book signings, and the unique opportunity to meet all three authors up close and personal in an intimate setting.

About the Venue

Raising the “bar” is BR’s rotating list of 20 beers on tap, which are available as samplers to complement many of the unique dishes they serve.

About the Authors

Abbi Waxman was born in England in 1970, the oldest child of two copywriters who never should have been together in the first place. Once her father ran off to buy cigarettes and never came back, her mother began a highly successful career writing crime fiction. She encouraged Abbi and her sister Emily to read anything and everything they could pull down from the shelves, and they did.

Naturally lazy and disinclined to dress up, Abbi went into advertising, working as a copywriter and then a creative director at various advertising agencies in London and New York. Clients ranged from big and traditional, (AT&T, Chase Manhattan Bank, IBM, American Express, Unilever, Mercedes-Benz) to big and morally corrupt (R. J. Reynolds) to big and larcenous (Enron). Eventually she quit advertising, had three kids and started writing books, TV shows and screenplays, largely in order to get a moment’s peace.

Abbi lives in Los Angeles with her husband, three kids, three dogs, three cats, a gecko, two mice and six chickens. Every one of these additions made sense at the time, it’s only in retrospect that it seems foolhardy.

Kristin Rockaway is a native New Yorker and recovering corporate software engineer. After working in the IT industry for far too many years, she finally traded the city for the surf and chased her dreams out to Southern California, where she spends her days happily writing stories instead of code. When she’s not working, she enjoys spending time with her husband and son, browsing the aisles of her neighborhood bookstores, and planning her next big vacation.

Her second novel, How to Hack a Heartbreak, will be released from Graydon House/HarperCollins on July 30, 2019. Her debut, The Wild Women’s Guide to Traveling the World, is in stores now.

Kathy Cooperman spent four years performing improvisational comedy, then decided to do something less fun with her life.

After graduating from Yale Law School, she went into criminal law, defending “innocent” (rich) clients. These days, she lives in Del Mar, California, with her husband and four challenging young children. Crimes Against a Book Club is her first novel.
