Ann Bancroft
Biographical Info I began writing fiction after a career in journalism and communications, and my debut novel, Almost Family, is being published when I am 71. I am at work on a second novel, Home for Brats. After graduating from UC Berkeley, I worked as a newspaper and wire service reporter, editorial writer, speechwriter, communications director and journalism teacher, mostly in Sacramento. An early draft of Almost Family (then titled The Oakland Mets) won the 2018 San Diego Book Award for best unpublished novel. I have been published twice in San Diego Writers, Ink anthology, A Year in Ink. I'm an alumna of the Community of Writers, the Tomales Bay Writers Workshops and Everwood Farmstead artist’s residence. As an affiliate of Amherst Writers and Artists, I lead workshops to help writers find their voice and generate story ideas. As a two-time breast cancer survivor, I have mentored dozens of cancer patients through the University of California, Davis Cancer Center and Save Ourselves Breast Cancer Organization. When not writing, or reading, I love walking the beach by our home in Coronado, cooking, entertaining, hiking and working out at the gym.
