Biographical Info Becky Ellis is a Timberwolf Pup. The daughter of a highly decorated World War II combat sergeant, she is a veteran of a war fought at home. She earned a BA in English Literature at UC Berkeley and has over twenty years of experience in the publishing industry. She teaches writing in Portland, Oregon, where she lives, plays, and has raised three daughters. Little Avalanches, her debut memoir, is a daughter-father story of war. As a small girl, I wanted to be the daughter my father needed, but he had an explosive and often dangerous personality and would not explain anything to anyone. I did not understand that this came from his WWII demons and distanced myself from the man I wanted to love. As a young adult, my relationships struggled – with myself, then my husband, and ultimately my children. Then, I had a moment that changed everything. My father broke 70 years of silence and revealed the extent of the trauma he endured, and I saw him for the man he was, not the father I wanted him to be. In seeing him, I saw myself.
