Virginia Woolf made the connection between language and wine, so we wanted to take a page from her and create an entire Adventures by the Book series devoted to the pairing of wine and books. Voila! Introducing our new Reading Between the Vines series to take place at the estate producer Hook & Ladder Winery, 2134 Olivet Rd, Santa Rosa, in Sonoma County, California!
With the assistance of Melier, we invite you to indulge in a sumptuous bubble tasting and book pairing experience, presented under California’s brilliant trademark sunshine. Enjoy a light brunch of pastries and Hook & Ladder bubbles, meet debut novelist Anna Bliss and learn about her new book, Bonfire Night.

About the Author
Anna Bliss is a debut novelist with an MA in Literature and Visual Culture from the University of Sussex, where she wrote her dissertation on women’s narratives of the London Blitz during World War II. An alumna of the juried Northern California Writers’ Retreat, she also has studied at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Social Welfare, the American Jewish University, and the UCLA Extension Writers’ Program. Her professional background includes over ten years in marketing and arts administration.
Anna’s debut novel, Bonfire Night, has been called “A tender work of art”, and has already risen to notable acclaim. The book quickly became a Barnes & Noble bestseller and won the Historical Novels Review Editor’s Choice award. Set before and during World War II, this moving, intricately wrought novel brings together a young Irish Catholic photographer and a British Jewish medical student, each discovering the price of love, art, and ambition.
