June 9 @ 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM

$18.99 – $65.00

About the Event

“There is something in the nature of tea that leads us into a world of quiet contemplation of life.” – Lin Yutang

Both your contemplation and presence are requested at our upcoming tea adventure with acclaimed author Jimin Han. Jimin’s new novel, The Apology, presents the story of a pampered and defiant South Korean matriarch thrust into the afterlife from which she seeks a second chance to make amends—and fights off a tragic curse that could devastate future generations.

Don’t miss this delectable Adventure at San Diego’s historic Coral Tree Tea House, where we will enjoy a charming tea service while Jimin shares more about her incisive tale of sisterhood and diaspora.

Your Adventure includes tea delicacies such as tea sandwiches, Waldorf salad, pastries, Devonshire cream, tax, gratuity, author presentation, book signing, and the opportunity to meet the author up-close and personal in an intimate setting.

About the Author and Book

Jimin Han was born in Seoul, South Korea, and grew up in Providence, Rhode Island; Dayton, Ohio; and Jamestown, New York. She is the author of two bestselling novels and her work has been supported by the New York State Council on the Arts. More of Jimin’s writing can be found at American Public Media’s Weekend AmericaPoets & Writers, and through other media outlets.

Jimin’s latest book, The Apology, instantly became a Barnes and Noble Discover Pick and was also named the best book of the summer by the LA TimesVanity FairShondaland, and Apple Books. The novel centers around Jeonga Cha, a 105-year-old woman living in South Korea, who is suddenly thrust into the afterlife, forced to fight off a curse that will otherwise devastate many generations to come.

When she is compelled to confront the choices of her past, Jeonga leaves herself, as well as readers, endlessly wondering: how could she have known that her past decisions would return to haunt her—threatening to tear apart her bond with her beloved son, her relationship with her infuriatingly insolent sisters, and the future of the family she has worked so hard to protect?

Part ghost story and part family epic, The Apology is a sweeping intergenerational saga, reaching back to the days of Japanese colonialism and the Korean War, and told through the singular voice of a defiant, funny, and unforgettable centenarian.
