It’s Veterans with Disabilities for Life Day, to honor wounded warriors.
Not much touches my heart more than these real-life heroes who inspired the Goodbye, Orchid series.
I’ve been lucky to meet and work on my books with multiple Purple Heart decorated veterans. Thank you for your service Sgt Bryan Anderson, Navy Corpsman Doc Jacobs, Sgt Noah Galloway, Sgt Aaron Michael Grant and many more.
They are some of the most resilient, kind human beings I’ve known. I’ve learned about mindset, courage, empathy and grace under seemingly insurmountable obstacles from them.
Each of my Orchid series books pays homage to one or more of the challenges that can face veterans:
🌺 In Book 1, Orchid Blooming, Orchid deals with PTSD that results from childhood tragedy
🌺 In Book 2, Goodbye Orchid, Phoenix Walker saves a man’s life and grapples with limb loss as a result
🌺 Book 3, Always Orchid, depicts the fallout from the above traumas as well as the challenge of homelessness
