As an Italian girl from upstate New York, Diana Giovinazzo always had a stack of books by her side. A self-proclaimed history nerd with insatiable wanderlust, Diana discovered her passion for historical fiction while searching her family’s genealogy.

In addition to writing, she is the co-creator of Wine, Women and Words, a weekly literary podcast, as well as the President of the Los Angeles chapter of the Women’s National Book Association.

Her debut novel allows readers to experience the epic life story of Anita Garibaldi, the courageous, headstrong revolutionary who fought for freedom and self-determination in 19th-century Brazil, Uruguay, and Italy — and had one of the most passionate love affairs in history. At once an exhilarating adventure and an unforgettable love story, The Woman in Red is a sweeping, illuminating tale of the feminist icon who became one of the most revered historical figures of South America and Italy.

Elizabeth St. John was brought up in England, and her research has taken her to family memoirs and letters at Nottingham Castle, the British Library, the Tower of London, Yale University and, of course, the family seat of Lydiard Park.  From these fragments the St.Johns emerge, leaving a portrait, a sentence, a deed that seats them with us, telling of their hopes and dreams.

In her most recent book, Written in Their Stars, horrified eyewitnesses to King Charles’s bloody execution in 1649 London, compel Royalists Nan Wilmot and Frances Apsley to plot to return the king’s exiled son to England’s throne Meanwhile, while their radical cousin Luce, the wife of king-killer John Hutchinson, rejoices in the new republic’s triumph.
